Every spring as I prepare my speeches for graduation ceremonies, I like to sit down with a group of soon-to-be graduates to get to know them better and learn about their high school experiences.
Jill Barela will bring 18 years of 51风流 educational experience with her when she takes on her new role as principal of Bamford Elementary in the 2024-25 school year.
The Facilities Planning Steering Committee presented its second draft of scenarios for potential school closures, program changes, and boundary adjustments to the PSD Board of Education at their May 14 meeting. More information about the scenarios can be found on the PSD Long-Range Planning web section.
During discussion of the committee’s draft scenarios, board members decided to make the following changes to the long-range planning process:

The PSD Board of Education looks forward to hearing feedback from all who wish to participate at their June 4 listening session focused on potential school consolidation, closure, and boundary adjustment scenarios. In order to hear more voices and have a more collaborative process, the listening session will be structured in a conversational style, mirroring the format used at the Facilities Planning Steering Committee’s eight listening sessions. This is a change in format from the board’s April 16 listening session.
From kindergarteners on their first day to high school seniors ready to graduate, teachers play an enormous role in inspiring, challenging, and guiding students throughout their academic careers.
We acknowledge not only the invaluable contributions of these individuals but the collective effort it takes. Teaching is not a solitary endeavor; it requires teamwork to ignite curiosity and shape students into wonderful learners and incredible human beings.
After careful consideration of feedback received primarily through eight listening sessions and a questionnaire, members of PSD’s Facilities Planning Steering Committee have updated four scenarios for potential boundary modifications and school consolidations.
The committee presented the board with scenarios labeled A1, A2, B, and C in March. These scenarios have been revised and are now labeled D1, D2, E, and F. Details of these scenarios are included below. The Board of Education may adopt aspects of the scenarios presented.
