"School is Cool" drive
Colorado State University's "School is Cool" school supply drive has provided hundreds of backpacks to PSD students in need each year. The "School is Cool" drive has been an annual event in August for more than 20 years and is a primary part of the "Supply Our Students" community school supply drive in which CSU and local businesses and organizations come together to make sure all students have the supplies they need to be successful in school.
Middle schoolers spend a day at CSU
PSD students got a taste of college life while touring the campus and meeting with CSU students During the last "CSU Middle School Day," more than 200 Lincoln Middle School sixth-graders met with first-generation students and played games with CSU athletes.
CSU poetry contest for PSD students
CSU held a poetry contest for PSD students, encouraging them to write about the university. Selected student winners received prize money for their eloquent thoughts.
PSD Day at women's basketball game
More than 1,500 fourth- and fifth-graders from a dozen PSD elementary schools cranked up Moby’s usual decibel and energy levels as the CSU women’s basketball team defeated Northern Arizona 65-54 on Dec. 5, 2018. Students enjoyed the free event thanks to the partnership between CSU and PSD. A second annual PSD Day at a CSU women’s basketball game is planned for next fall with the goal of growing school participation by 50 percent.
Reading with the Rams at PSD schools
Each year, CSU student athletes present “Reading with the RAMS” to elementary schools across the district. These amazing athletes visit classrooms to read to the kids and share their own experiences about school, sports, and the importance of teamwork. Our students are in awe of and inspired by these “big kids." They are always excited to see them!
